Morristown Lady Colonials Lacrosse Club Inc.

The goal of the Morristown Lady Colonials Lacrosse Club Inc. is to promote lacrosse among girls in the Greater Morristown Area and to expand the fastest-growing sport’s appeal to a broad range of players.  We feel strongly that this is best accomplished by promoting fun, sportsmanship, confidence, equal play, and fostering Love for the Game!    Our program is designed to accommodate both girls who have extensive lacrosse experience and girls who have never picked up a stick.  We are an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 organization.

The Lady Colonials has two main programs, the 3rd through 8th-grade travel TEAMS and Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd-grade CLINIC.  The TEAMS usually practice twice a week and games are played against local towns approximately twice a week. All weekday practices and games start after 6 p.m. and weekend games start after 1 p.m. The season runs between the beginning of March and the beginning of June with optional winter clinics beginning in January.  There are 8, 1.5-hour CLINIC sessions held on Sundays starting mid-April at Simons Field in Morris Plains.

Our registration in the past 3 years represents all-time high numbers! Not only do we have more girls involved in our program, but the level of play has also improved dramatically.  Just a few years ago, we had trouble scheduling games with towns like Summit and Chatham, because we weren't competitive enough for them.  Now, we play them every year and sometimes, even beat them!

The TEAMS registration fee is $250 and $100 for the CLINIC.  Scholarships are available based on family needs.  You will also need to get a membership to US Lacrosse for $35 which you will do through our registration process.  If you have any questions or would like to get involved, please send us an email at ladycolonialslax@gmail.com.

  • Pre-K, 1st, and 2nd Grade CLINIC – The Lady Colonials Clinic is the foundation for further participation in our program.  This program focuses on teaching the basics of the game (e.g. throwing, catching, rules of the game, etc.) in a fun and positive environment.
  • 3rd and 4th Grade TEAM – Our 3rd and 4th-grade teams provide children their first opportunity to play organized games against teams from other towns.  The teams at this level are “balanced” (e.g. players are assigned to teams to make all teams similar in terms of skill and competitiveness).  Instruction at this level emphasizes basic lacrosse skills while introducing strategy, structured plays, and how to play various positions.  Playtime during practices and games is equal and all players are allowed to try any position during the season.
  • 5th and 6th Grade TEAM – At the 5th and 6th-grade level, the game becomes more competitive.  Instruction continues to reinforce basic lacrosse skills as well as strategy, plays, and positions.
  • 7th and 8th Grade TEAM – 7th and 8th grade are critical years for players to fine-tune their skills and obtain maximum knowledge of the game to prepare for competitive high school programs.  By this level, it is expected players will be committed to the lacrosse season.  Teams may be split by skill level and playing time at this level is a function of attendance at practice, ability, and effort.  While coaches are encouraged to involve all players throughout the season, players participating in the most competitive (Select) teams should not expect equal playing time.
